Grade II listed Old Brook Farm looks much as it did when it was built, more than 225 years ago, its period homestead and farm buildings constructed of local stone and slate, typical of the region. Approaching the property, via a characteristic country lane, high hedges either side, feels like journeying back in time. For miles around there is just pure, unspoilt, Devon countryside, and only the occasional road sign to reveal which century we are in.

Old Brook Farm is a unique and beautifully evocative location for filming and photographic shoots. The farmhouse interior has been lovingly restored and appointed to retain its traditional charm, and the outbuildings evidence traditional farming practices and ancient country crafts.

Surrounded by a patchwork of pasture paddocks, ancient woodlands with river glades, and Dartmoor on its doorstep, the property offers directors and photographers beauty, authenticity, versatility, and a glimpse into history.

It is unsurprising that rural Devon has, over several decades, featured in hundreds of feature films and TV series, with its centuries-old hedgerows and stone walls, bucolic hills and quintessential Englishness. And, the huge horizons, dramatic tors, Bronze Age remains and native ponies that are distinctly Dartmoor provide an extraordinary cinematic backdrop. Following filming of War Horse in 2010, Steven Spielberg stated that, through his entire career, he had never been “gifted with such an abundance of natural beauty.”
